What’s Your Great Idea?

2017-09-14T07:53:06+00:00

The “Great Ideas Conference” is an event provided by the American Society of Association Executives that I attended and presented at in March. It was my first time to attend this conference, and I was astonished with everything related to the event: the registrants, the presentations, the networking, and all the fun. Truly, great ideas were everywhere, and I knew I wanted to write a blog about some of these great ideas. However, selecting the golden nuggets to highlight was just not possible—too many to choose from. However, there was one other big takeaway from the conference that was blog worthy: [...]

Part 2: How Should I Price the CE Content I Deliver?

2017-09-14T07:53:06+00:00

Our clients often ask us, “How should I price the CE courses that I provide to the professionals in the industry our organization serves?” Understanding our answer is typically the easy part. Executing upon our answer seems to be more of a challenge. This blog posting is the second part of a two-post series and is intended to help you to establish the proper price for your content. Last week we discussed cost-plus versus value-based pricing, and how scarcity can affect demand (you can read the entire post here. We ended last week’s blog with the question, “What makes a course [...]

2017-09-14T07:53:06+00:00

Our clients often ask us, “How should I price the CE courses that I provide to the professionals in the industry our organization serves?” Understanding our answer is typically the easy part. Executing upon our answer seems to be more of a challenge. This blog posting is intended to help you to establish the proper price for your content regardless of industry or topic . First, we need to understand the two main pricing methods that you may choose to follow when establishing your prices: Cost-plus pricing – prices which consider the total cost you incur to create and deliver the course; [...]

The Networking Effect

2017-09-14T07:53:06+00:00

There’s an old technology riddle about the power of the networking effect.    It goes something like this: What’s the value of one fax machine?  Zero. What’s the value of many fax machines?  Infinite. The network effect basically says the more network “nodes”, the more valuable the network, and it is NOT a linear equation, it’s generally logarithmic. I attended the Avectra User Group Conference in early March and I saw the networking effect in action.  Several hundred Avecta clients were there and we generated some interesting sales opportunities, which is generally how most vendors judge the success of these events.  But [...]

Must See Six: February

2017-09-14T07:53:06+00:00

From member education demands to TV series based CLE (we’re only half kidding), there are a lot of interesting reads out there for the continuing education professional. InReach Partners with proSHARE to Create Additional Revenue Stream for Association Customers InReach today announces a partnership with proSHARE, a joint project of the Ohio State Bar Association’s (OSBA) for-profit subsidiary and gainSHARE. This partnership, designed to leverage the dramatic expansion in digital advertising for the benefit of associations, provides InReach customers with a new channel for creating non-dues revenue that can be used to fund existing or new programs. Discover efficiencies with CLE administration support

2025-11-24T16:32:12+00:00

Continuing education accreditation, particularly continuing legal education accreditation, requires thorough knowledge of mandatory legal continuing education rules that affect the credit requirements in each state. It can take hours of research for a CLE provider to determine if their courses meet state requirements. Each course must be approved by accrediting bodies, and the approval process often includes long applications as well as the completion of multiple forms and other supporting documentation. These administrative tasks consume precious staff resources, leaving less time for course creation and marketing. Many of the leading continuing education providers have discovered that contracting with a CLE administration [...]

Our First User Meeting

2017-09-14T07:53:06+00:00

InReach held its first Annual User Group Meeting two weeks ago, following the ACLEA conference here in Austin.  We were very pleased with the turnout, especially since it’s our first attempt.  And even more pleased with the feedback we received as to the value it delivered.  It was great to see a good cross section of legal, medical and financial services clients in the room. We presented the Ohio State Bar Association with our 2013 Partners in Excellence Award.  This award is given out annually to the client that we feel has exemplified everything we encourage our clients to do in [...]

Thoughts on the ACLEA 2014 Mid-year Meeting

2017-09-14T07:53:06+00:00

Congratulations to the Association of Continuing Legal Education (ACLEA) on its 50th anniversary and 99thconference—a commendable achievement and remarkable milestone! Having been a member since 2000 and President since August of 2013, I’ve attended 17 conferences, but have to say that I found the 2014 Mid-year meeting especially notable. Perhaps it was the conference’s significance in the history of the association, or perhaps it was a blog post a fellow ACLEA member forwarded to me right after the conference that helped me appreciate how far the continuing legal education industry and its professionals have come, and see the work that still [...]

Post 2: Intermediate Stages of Online Continuing Education

2025-11-24T18:26:06+00:00

To date, we’ve looked at the big picture of online CE and examined the early stages of the maturity curve. Next we’ll dive into the intermediate stages. Online Live Events Most commonly referred to as webcasts or webinars, these online live events only exist online. They do not have a live in-person audience. Instead they are produced in relative physical isolation and attendees join via the Internet. They allow both the presenter and the attendees to participate from the comfort and convenience of their home or office. Presenters and attendees don’t need to be in the same building, city or even [...]

Post 1: Early Stages of Online Continuing Education

2017-09-14T07:53:06+00:00

In last month’s article, we looked at the overarching maturity curve of online continuing education (CE), from online registration all the way through to fully blended learning. Over the next few weeks, I’ll break the curve down to three segments to help you identify where your organization is and how you can progress up and to the right. First though, let’s take a minute to think back on the days before the Internet was widely available. The days of Sonny & Cher, Celtics-Lakers rivalry and rotary phones, or even Doogie Howser, Bruce Springsteen and cassette tapes. Back then the most common ways [...]
