Q: What are the benefits of having a Single Sign On?

A: There are multiple! Not only will your learners have the same log-in credentials on the InReach catalog as your organizational website, but your member data will also be in sync with your AMS/MMS database. You can also support member and non-member pricing automatically to promote the benefits of becoming a member. Additionally, there are other InReach features that are only usable with a Single Sign On – talk to your CSM for details!

Q: Can you integrate with my AMS or MMS?

A: Yes, we can! We have current integrations with major AMS and MMS providers as well as smaller “home-grown” solutions.

Q: Is there costs associated with implementing a Single Sign On?

A: Yes, there is a fee associated with implementation as well as a monthly maintenance fee. Contact your CSM for a quote today!

Q: How long does the implementation take?

A: Implementation time can vary, but it’s usually takes anywhere from six to eight weeks.

Q: If I’m already an InReach partner, can I switch to Single Sign On?

A: Yes! During the implementation process we’ll work with you on syncing up currently existing InReach learner accounts and the accounts you have stored in your AMS/MMS.

Q: Will a Single Sign on affect how the InReach Contact Center supports my learners/end-users?

A: Yes, since your AMS or MMS will be the system of record for learner’s log-in credentials, you will need to have internal support staff to assist your learners with log-in related issues. InReach Contact Center staff will not be able to do so, but they will continue to provide support for catalog or registration issues.

The term mandatory continuing professional education often troubles me, even given my profession. That concern deserves explanation. For many people, including the public professionals serve, the word mandatory implies reluctance. It suggests professionals pursue education only when forced. In reality, most professionals actively seek continuing education. Doctors, accountants, lawyers, engineers, and architects value ongoing learning. They embrace CE as a way to sharpen skills and stay current. CE supports professional success and should not feel like an irritating obligation.

Mandatory CE

Mandatory CE rules do affect the business of delivering continuing education. Busy professionals respond to deadlines, and deadlines often drive seasonal participation. However, seasonal patterns do not tell the full story. Many professionals complete more CE than required. They seek learning that directly supports their work and recognize the skills gained through CE. In practice, motivation often exceeds compliance.

What Is Leadership?

Leadership is a concept that matters at every stage of your education, career, and personal development. We’ve all experienced the frustration of ineffective managers or uninspiring teachers—moments that highlight just how essential strong leadership truly is. But what is leadership, really?

According to Wikipedia, leadership is “a process of social influence in which a person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task.”
From this definition, a few key ideas about leadership stand out:

1. It Is a Process

Leadership isn’t a fixed trait or a title—it’s a deliberate process. It involves continuous learning, self-awareness, and the willingness to improve. Effective leadership develops by understanding what works, what doesn’t, and how actions influence others.

2. Leadership Thrives on Cooperation

True leadership grows from collaboration, trust, and genuine relationships. When people feel respected and connected, they are far more willing to share ideas, support goals, and work toward a unified mission.

3. Being a Leader Is Not About Authority

The definition doesn’t mention job titles, seniority, or formal power. That’s because leadership can come from anyone, at any level. Authority can be assigned—but leadership is earned through integrity, vision, and the ability to inspire and support others.
